N. L. Dalmia High School undertakes the Student Exchange Program with the Netherlands.
‘Educational exchange can turn nations into people, contributing as no other form of communication can to the humanizing of international relations.’
Building International Relations is an excellent way to promote globalization, building inter-personal skills and getting a perspective into the working of a larger world. We no longer live in a bipolar world, times have changed and the world now has become inter -connected and inter-dependent. To adapt to the evolving times,it becomes pivotal to promote Internationalism.
In accordance with the same,N.L. Dalmia High School was a part of yet another cultural exchange program, with a School in Helmond, Netherlands.
The exchange programme was held from 21st September to 2nd October 2023. The students lived with families of Jan Van Brabant college and got to understand their culture, it was indeed a very unique experience for the students. The students exchanged their culture, experiences, had a discussion about their language, way of living, how they travel within the city, their cuisines and much more.
The exchange program began with a few ice breaking activities, where students interacted with their hosts and other students thus preparing themselves for a collaborative and productive exchange program.
The students enjoyed their time with their Host families and travelled many different places and some, even to different countries, like Germany and Belgium. The students got an insight into the working of schools, the lifestyle and culture in the Netherlands which is very different from theirs.
The celebration of the ‘Indian morning’ was an exciting experience altogether! The Dutch students learnt some new dance steps and also got their hands decorated with henna. They were equally elated to know more about our country through a presentation specially prepared for this occasion.
Students also got a glimpse of the country’s rich history by visiting a few museums and churches. What was most intriguing was to know facts about the famous painter Van Gogh, on visiting his village and a museum dedicated to him.
The ‘Indian night’ arranged for the students of N.L Dalmia is definitely worth remembering. The dance performed by the students got everyone’s feet tapping!
The parents and students were very thankful and appreciative of Ms Payal Saini , Ms Geeta Dasouni and the School Authorities for making the exchange program a fruitful and a memorable one. The program helped foster an understanding of diversity and gave the students a global perspective that is of great value in today’s interconnected world.
