Student Exchange Programme with the Netherlands – 2025-26
The programme commenced on 14th November with a heartfelt welcome party, where guests were graciously handed over to their host families. The ensuing days unfolded a tapestry of cultural immersion: family time spent at Imagica, Splash, Bounce, and Sky City Mall, alongside enriching visits to an Indian Art and Craft Exhibition and the serene Iskon Temple. Academic and creative exchanges included an introductory session, school tour, and specialised classes in Hindi, dance, music, karate, and art.
Explorations of Mumbai’s heritage ensued with visits to the Pagoda, Gorai Beach, Sunjay Gandhi National Park, and the ancient Kanheri Caves. The programme further highlighted Mumbai’s cosmopolitan flair through a Mumbai Darshan, encompassing iconic landmarks like the Gateway of India, Mount Mary Church at Band Stand, Shivaji Vastu Sangrahlaya and Fountain Show at NMACC. The Amalgamation of Cultures celebrated the fusion of Dutch and Indian traditions, followed by a thrilling excursion to Film City and Bollywood Park.
The programme drew to a close on 22nd November with a departure from Mumbai, leaving cherished memories of friendship and cultural exchange.
Student Exchange visit to the Netherlands – Helmond, Jan Van Brabant College
N. L. Dalmia High School was a part of yet another cultural exchange programme, with a School in Helmond, the Netherlands. The exchange programme was held from 11th September to 21st September, 2025. The visit was filled with enriching experiences that blended learning, culture, and fun.
Students actively participated in Dutch and Indian dance workshops, enjoyed traditional Dutch games, and even experienced the country’s cycling culture. They explored the Open-Air Museum, admired the Van Gogh Centre in Nuenen, and took a memorable boat tour of Amsterdam, soaking in its beauty and history. Recreational activities such as bowling brought students closer together, while a special dinner, where each group prepared dishes from their own country, turned into a delightful cultural feast.
Living with Dutch host families gave our students a true taste of everyday life in the Netherlands, fostering lasting friendships and deepening cultural understanding. This exchange not only broadened their horizons but also created memories that they will cherish for a lifetime.
Guests of Jan Van Brabant College of the Netherlands were welcomed at the airport and School atrium, followed by a traditional guard of honour and a warm address by Dr. Seema Saini Ma’am. Cultural performances, including an Invocation Dance and Lavani, set the tone for the visit, which concluded with a welcoming dinner.
Over the next few days, guests enjoyed time with host families and explored iconic sites such as lmagica, Taj Mahal, Statue of Unity, Alibagh, Mahabaleshwar and Ajanta and Ellora Caves, blending cultural immersion with relaxation. School activities included attending classes, learning Hindi, participating in a music and dance class, and traditional games. Evenings featured visits to Pagoda and Gorai Beach.
An excursion to Monterio – Back to Your Roots in Karjat provided guests with a unique opportunity to experience rural life and traditions. Visits to the ISKCON Temple and Kanheri Caves at Rajiv Gandhi National Park offered a mix of spirituality, culture and history.
The Amalgamation of Culture event in the auditorium began with a welcoming message from the CEO and Principal, Dr. Seema Saini. Guests and hosts showcased diverse traditions and artistic expressions, twinning in traditional Indian attire to celebrate cultural unity. A collaborative game tested guests’ knowledge of Indian culture, adding an interactive element. The event concluded with a potluck lunch, arranged by the host families, before guests dispersed.
Mumbai Darshan showcased the city’s highlights, including the Gateway of India, Prince of Wales Museum, shopping at Colaba Causeway and modern attractions like Jio World and NMACC. The week concluded with the Nirmaan – Science and Art Exhibition, featuring student projects and a farewell session before guests departed for the airport. This visit blended education, culture, and exploration, leaving guests with cherished memories and a deeper appreciation for India’s heritage.

N. L. Dalmia High School undertakes the Student Exchange Program with the Netherlands
International Student Exchange Program is one of the best ways to globalize education and provide a life – changing experience to students.
Taking forward the vision of our Founder Chairman, Shri Niranjanlalji Dalmia of providing broader avenues of learning for holistic developments of the students, N. L. Dalmia High School undertook a student exchange program with the Jan Van Brabant College, the Netherlands. 18 students and 2 teachers who visited us on this annual student exchange program from 24th November, 2023 to 2nd December, 2023 were elated to have received a warm welcome to the School. The guests children were handed over to the respective host families who were eagerly waiting for them in the School campus.
Family Time:
The host families who opened their doors to experience a new culture and provided the guest students a second home, made arrangements and bookings to travel to different places with their guests. The Dutch students enjoyed time with their host families. They explored and experienced education in a different environment.

Amalgamation of Culture:
“STUDENTS’ EXCHANGE OPENS DOORS TO EXPERIENCE A NEW CULTURE AND GIVES STUDENTS A SECOND HOME.”
“Atithi devo bhava” this Sanskrit quote translates to” Guest is equivalent to God”. It epitomises the feeling of friendliness and kindness towards our guests, where every guest is welcomed to share in the beauty of our country and the rich heritage it holds!
Abiding by this very quote, N. L. Dalmia High School extended a warm welcome to 19 Students and 2 Teachers from the Netherlands who visited us on an exchange programme from 8th January 2023 to 15th January 2023. Our guests were delighted to have received a traditional welcome on the beats of dhols and tashas. As part of the Indian custom, they were also welcomed with a garland and application of tilak.
The guests children were handed over to the respective host families after an ice-breaking session and a ramp walk that was followed by high tea.
Highlighting the Indian history, culture, monuments, personalities, art and dance forms, short programmes were organised by the students of Grade 7,8 and 9 on a daily basis. Guests were mesmerised to witness varied colours of the Indian tradition.
Interesting indigenous games like Kabbadi and Langdi Tang were thoroughly enjoyed by the guest students and teachers.
The students got an insight into our teaching methods by attending Geography, Chemistry, English Literature, Hindi, Art and Dance class.
Visit to PAGODA- VIPASANA CENTRE helped the students in understanding the Buddhist culture in a better way. This was followed by a short visit to GORAI BEACH which offered cart ride, horse ride- adding fun element to the evening.
Afternoon visit to ISKCON TEMPLE, was well appreciated by the guests. They were awestruck to see intricate carvings and the artistically decorated statue of Lord Krishna. A special lecture by Shri Kamal Lochan Das the President, followed by Mahaprasadam was something the guests would cherish forever.
To let their heads down and give a vent to their energy, DJ DANCE PARTY was organised at HAPPI. Children shook a leg on BOLLYWOOD dance numbers.
MUMBAI DARSHAN provided glimpses of the “Gateway of India “, Old and New Taj, Mani Bhavan, Hanging Garden, Boot House, Reserve Bank of India and Stock Exchange.
To conclude a week-long celebration “Amalgamation of Cultures” was organised where a plethora of performances were showcased by the Indian and Dutch students, which included Fusion Dance, Episode of Mahabharata, Fashion Show, PPT Presentation and Quiz.
For the guests to experience the rich heritage of the Indian tradition, extravagant stalls of Mehandi application, Tattoo, Puppet Show, Jyotish Vidhya, Makar Sakranti, Puppet Show, Mouth Fresheners (Pan Shop) were put up.
To add on to the excitement, ROTI MAKING COMPETITION was organised which was followed by TUG OF WAR between the guests and the hosts.
Friday evening was devoted to Lohri celebration at GCC club amidst the beats of Punjabi Bhangra and giddas. Children danced with their friends and host families.
The strength and the support given by the host families was immense. At a personal level they took the host children to various places like Imagica, Water Kingdom, Alibagh, Jodhpur, Goa, Statue of Unity and Kite festival at Ahmedabad.
