Amidst a symphony of cheers and the pulse of anticipation, the Annual Sports Day Celebration on the 31st of January, 2024 at N. L. Dalmia High School ignited the spirit of competition and camaraderie like never before.
The ‘Sports Meet’ was graced by the esteemed presence of our distinguished chief guest, Mr. Sagar Kailash Ovalkar, a young Mumbai based engineer, who became the first man in the country to receive the Arjuna Award for Malkhambh. He was honoured with the coveted award at the Rashtrapathi Bhavan on November 12, 2022, by the President of India, Draupadi Murmu.
The hoisting of the school flag holds deep significance for our institution. The honor of hoisting the School flag was gracefully assumed by our Guest of Honor, Mr. Mudit Dalmia together with CEO & Principal Dr. Seema Saini and Chief Guest Mr. Sagar Ovalkar. As the flag was raised against the backdrop of a clear blue sky, emotions ran high among the students and staff.
The event kicked off with an inspiring address by our esteemed CEO and Principal Dr. Seema Saini, setting the tone for a day filled with excitement and fierce competition, which was followed by the oath taking and the torch bearing ceremony.
With esteemed privilege, our distinguished Guest of Honour, Mr. Mudit Dalmia declared the sports meet open. Our Chief Guest, Mr. Sagar Ovalkar and Guest of Honour, Mr. Mudit Dalmia accompanied by the CEO and Principal, Dr. Seema Saini released a myriad of colourful balloons into the sky. This symbolic gesture, executed with poise and reverence, marked the official commencement of the sports meet, evoking a sense of unity and optimism that permeated the hearts of all present.
Exciting races and closely contested matches kept the audience on the edge of their seats throughout the day. The atmosphere was filled with cheers and applause as participants demonstrated sportsmanship and encouraged their teammates and competitors alike.
‘In the end, it’s not the victory that defines us, but the spirit in which we compete and the bonds we forge along the way.’ The sports day meet was a resounding success, showcasing the incredible talent, dedication and sportsmanship of all the participants. It was a day filled with excitement and achievement, the memories of which will be etched in everyone’s heart for years to come.
As rightly quoted by Billie Jean King, ‘Sports teaches you character, it teaches you to play by rules. It teaches you to know what it feels like to win and lose- it; sports teaches you about life’.
The 21st of January 2023, witnessed a spectacular display of resilience, patience, grit, leadership and accountability as N. L. Dalmia High School, celebrated its ‘Annual Sports Meet 2022-23’.
The ‘Meet’ got our students acquainted with our ‘Chief Guest’ Mr. Shubham Vanmali, an international Open water Swimmer, winner of the ‘Tenzing Norgay National Sports Award’ a Chatrapati Shivaji awardee; sir is also a motivational speaker.
The event kick started with our respected principal Dr. Seema Saini addressing the gathering. Followed by the oath taking and torch bearing ceremony.
The vigour of each and every participant was inexplicable. A number of events were taking place simultaneously on the ground and the results were being declared enthusiastically.
It is rightly said that ‘Sports can bring people together as nothing else can. It can break all barriers and build up understanding and friendship along with the spirit of true sportsmanship’. The day witnessed exactly that.

The last 2 years have been full of challenges and unpredictability but we at N. L. Dalmia. High. School believe in overcoming all the situations that life hurls at us and with this attitude, began the preparation of the ‘Annual Virtual Sports Meet’, 2021-22.
The event began with the opening ceremony by our beloved Principal and CEO Dr. Seema Saini followed by the virtual release of Balloons which symbolized the vibrant hopes and aspirations that soar high in every sportsman. The members of the school council and the best athletes 2019-2020 passed candles as a symbol of igniting the true spirit of sportsmanship. This was followed by the oath taking ceremony by the school captain. Our beloved CEO and Principal addressed the students on the importance of exercise, nutrition and mindfulness. The highlight of the event was a virtual speech by Mr. Yuvraj Valmiki, who is an Indian Professional Field Hockey Player from Maharashtra. He was a member of the Indian team that won the 2011 Asian Championship Trophy. He sent his well wishes to our students who indeed were super excited to hear from him.
Keeping in mind the medium of the event the activities were thoughtfully designed for students of all age groups right from nursery to ISC. The event also witnessed the sports day conducted for the teaching and non-teaching staff. Glimpses of last year’s ‘Sports Meet’ was no less than walking down the memory lane.
The outcome of this wonderful event was a learning for the students that “Good sportsmanship goes beyond the game; it starts with respect, and victory, is in the quality of competition and not in the final score.
“A winner is not someone who is a born winner, instead a winner is someone who puts PLAN TO WIN, PREPARE TO WIN AND EXPECT TO WIN.”
Sports are one of the most happening thrills of life. Sports are something that teaches many qualities like dedication, leadership and discipline.
N. L. Dalmia High School has been organizing Sports Day with grandeur and great pomp at Sports Authority of India every year.
We left no stone unturned even this year during this pandemic phase. The main objective was to keep the sports rigor of the students’ alive.
Keeping this in mind, the school has organized a Virtual Sports Day on 26th February, 2021 for the students. The students were given the opportunity to take part in an array of Sport event. The children enjoyed demonstrating incredible sportsmanship and determination to do their best.

N.L.Dalmia High School organized its Annual Sports Meet on 11th and 12th Jan 2019 at Sports Authority of India Ground (SAI), Sports Complex, Kandivali East.
The much awaited Annual Sports Meet spanning two days was a super energetic one with excitement, zeal and frolicsome atmosphere all around. The CEO and Principal, Ms. Seema Saini welcomed the esteemed gathering and emphasized on the importance of sports in the life of children. “Sports not only aims to impart sportsmanship spirit lesson but also improves camaraderie values, health and fitness in young children”, she mentioned.
Thereafter, the students entered into the spirit of the occasion in a splendid way with the oath taking ceremony being administered by the School Vice-Captain. They mesmerized the audience with their lively performances. Different competitions that followed showcased sportsmanship spirit of students of Pre-Primary, Primary and Secondary Sections. The air was filled with cheering and tons of encouragement for the young athletes who participated in various events like- running race, relays, hurdle race, discus throw, shot put, long jump, high jump and more. Last but not the least, a tug-of-war between the four houses as well as the one between the teaching and non-teaching staffs added to the mood of the sports event.
The two-day long event culminated with the Vote of Thanks by Ms. Saini who appreciated the sportsmanship spirit of all the participants. Finally there was the prize distribution ceremony and the trophy for the overall leading house was bagged by Agni House followed by Jal House, who won the runner up trophy. Vayu house was declared Best house for March Past. Ethan Thomas (Std IV) from Primary (I-V), Vansh Khona (Std VIII) from Middle (VI-VIII) and Ritika Shetty (Std IX) from Secondary/ISC (IX-XI) were adjudged the Best Athletes – Orange Cap winners in their respective categories.
The eventful day was enjoyed to the core by students, teachers, non-teaching staffs as well as parents. Ms. Saini further declared closing of the Annual Sports Meet, which ended with a cheerful note, filled with promises for all the young sports enthusiasts.
Annual Sports Meet 2017-18
The Annual Sports Day of N.L Dalmia High School was celebrated on the 12th and 13th of January, 2017 amidst great mirth and camaraderie at the Sports Authority of India, Kandivali. The Chief Guest Ms. Susmita Jyotsi, Director of Sports Authority India and Director Incharge of Regional Centres, was welcomed with the guard of honour. The Principal Ms Seema Saini welcomed the Chief Guest and the gathering formally. This was entailed by the unfurling of the school flag. A spectacular march past by the four houses contingents had everyone in awe. Agni house won the trophy for the best march past.
The Olympic Flame epitomising the light of spirit, knowledge and life was lit by the Chief Guest and was handed over to Janahvi Desai the School Sports Vice Captain who then passed it over to the other torchbearers.
The students embraced the spirit of the event with the oath being administered by the School Vice-Captain Mst Shubh Das.
The Sports Meet was declared open by the principal, Ms. Seema Saini. Balloons symbolizing the four different houses were released to mark the expression of joy and rejoicement. She then addressed the gathering. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of sports for the holistic development of every child. The Chief Guest, Ms. Susmita Jyotsi was superlative in her address for the march past done by the students stating that it was outstanding and well synchronized. She opined that sports is an integral part of education because it disciplines the students and she urged them to participate with sincerity.
The highlight of the event was the splendid field displays, involving mass student participation, a riot of hues and vibrance. We had our students of Class 6th and 7th displaying various ‘yoga aasans’ that indeed were a perfect boost to the mind and spirit. This was followed by the musical display where students of Class 5th and 6th displayed various formations with bright colored fabrics symbolizing courage, enthusiasm, vigour, and bravery and display true sportsmanship through the various exquisite formations.
Once the events began, the air was filled with cheering and encouragement for the young athletes. Students competed in myriad events including sprints, obstacle races, relays, long jump, shot put, discus throw and tug of war. The races run by the parents and teachers added to the enjoyment.
The winners of various events were felicitated by the dignitaries with medals and certificates. Vayu House proved victorious winning The Best House Trophy and the Runner up was the Jal House.
The sports day ended with the principal declaring the closing of the Sports Day and the vote of thanks by the School Vice- Captain Mst Shubh Das.
